Weekend Update
I'm married now. With the exception of Mike (aka SaikotikGunman) sending his condolences the response has been positive.

The ceremony was great, the guests were great and it made for a fun, enjoyable evening. If I close my eyes, though, I might still be able to see spots left by the flash of all the cameras. It seemed like any one person getting up for a shot was a cue for 12 more people to get up and do the same. At least we did manage to eat.

Today we are heading north from Florida into Georgia and will be back in Knoxville near the end of the week for graduation.

Here we are
Greetings from Tampa!

This time frame (the time when finishing school, getting married and moving to start work as a minister happens in rapid succession) has finally arrived. Needless to say I have thought about it a time or two over the past few months. I remember thinking how busy it would be and it usually felt distant.

Yesterday I took the final test of my preaching school career and turned in the last of class assignments that would be due for a grade. I climbed in my car and started driving. I expected to stop near Valdosta, Georgia last night but was feeling good enough that I drove on through. I made it to my destination here in Florida at about 10:30 last night. It was about 11 hours from the time of my departure from Knoxville to my arrival and this included four stops. Not bad.

My point simply is this: it has been a lot of work and a lot of waiting to get to this point. It's exciting that it's finally arriving and I need to remind myself to enjoy it all: it will blow by quickly if I let it and it's not exactly a time in my life I will be able to go back and re-live.

Tampa is getting some rain today. My understanding is that they need it and therefore will not be complaining.

Southbound Soon
It's hard to believe, but today was the final Friday chapel of my preaching school career.

Monday I have the final exam of my ETSPM tenure and then will start the trek to Florida for wedding preparations. One week from tomorrow, Lord willing, I will be marrying the love of my life: promising her from the bottom of my heart to be committed to our marriage for as long as I am alive.

It's an awesome thing to think about, and a responsibility and privilege I am really looking forward to.

To any supporters (whether personally or via being a member of a congregation that supports me) thank you again! I say this all the time, but I say it because it's true: this would not be possible without your help. Thank you for blessing me with the opportunity to come to Knoxville and study the Bible for two years. It has been very rewarding. I am working on writing a final letter to each supporting congregation and I hope these arrive in a much more timely manner than some of my update letters did.

Graduation is scheduled for the 12th. Not too long after that we will be in Mississippi to get to work!

In Him,
-John

Packrat
Greetings from Knoxville!

I am starting to pack up the apartment. Every time I move there is the fun of going through things. I always, perhaps because most of my moving involves school, have a *lot* of paper to sort through. Yesterday involved four hours of sorting, shredding and disposing. That paper shredder I bought last year was a great investment.

I observed another trend of mine and that is my tendency to hold onto things. I went through at least two batches of cards I had been given. Cards from my Marshall graduation, Christmas cards, Good luck at school cards. Still had them.

When I came to Knoxville I had everything crammed into my Taurus. There's no way I could pull that trick again. Some things have to be left and some things have to be thrown out. The fun part is figuring out what stays with me and what goes away.

Three bags of stuff later (and two of those bags were predominantly confetti from the shredder) I am seeing some progress. There is still plenty to do.

JA back in TN
I am back in town after being in Florida this weekend. The good news: my wonderful bride-to-be and I have secured our license to get married. The bad news...well...this time there is no bad news unless our both having a lot to accomplish between now and then is bad news.

As much as I am looking forward to the final days ticking away and getting to start my new role as a husband I actually *am* enjoying some aspects of these days. I'm happy, healthy and soon will be going through some big changes: getting married, graduating school and moving to a new home.

There are a lot of people to thank for this wonderful ride. More than I can give proper credit to by blogging. You might just be one of them...if so, thank you.
