This has been a busy but productive weekend.
Friday evening was the start of the ETSPM Alumni Evangelism Forum. It continued Saturday with two different speakers in the morning and a panel discussion. After a break for lunch there was a final lecture wrapping up the event.
I was given the opportunity to learn how to run the church's audio system. Thankfully it was not difficult to catch onto (all that journalism training paid off for something!) and I did most of the morning and all of the afternoon audio work myself.
This weekend has been somewhat feverish with regard to work. Friday I finished one of the final projects that is due in about two weeks. Today after the evangelism forum I got busy on outlines for Genesis. We were assigned eight sermons for Genesis at the beginning of the quarter. Obviously there are plenty of options in a book that size, so you wouldn't think it to be a vastly difficult assignment. But writing outlines takes time. I was hoping to finish the balance of outlines today. Time did not permit that, but I've made a sizable dent and am feeling much better about them.
A third final project I have is an eight-page paper for the course on the synoptic gospels. My topic has been selected and I have my main thoughts outlined. Now it's a matter of turning the outline into a coherent paper. I feel good about my ability to do that.
As you can tell, I stay busy. That's one of the beautiful things about this school: the instructors have yet to demand absolutely too much but at the same time discipline becomes necessary.
In His service,
-John
