A peek at the life, times and thoughts of John during his two-year stint in Knoxville.
Home for the Holidays
Home for the holidays has been going quite well. It seems like I have less work to do than I thought I did when I left Knoxville. This can't be true, so now the question is what am I overlooking?
Sunday is rapidly approaching, and I forced myself to go with an as of yet uncompleted sermon for the morning instead of relying on a proven winner. It should go fine but I've only half-written it. There's still some work that needs put into it before it's ready to go.
Sitting in the pew at Mannington last night was a bit of a stunner. It felt so small compared to Karns. I suppose that's what happens when you go from an auditorium that seats 300+ to a congregation that has about 160. Karns' auditorium is probably at least three times as wide as Mannington although in terms of length there isn't a noticeable difference. It felt good to be back, though. It was my first time back there for a service since I left Mannington for preaching school. I'm looking forward to Sunday and looking forward to visiting another local and supporting congregation next Wednesday.
Have I mentioned I'm ready for the bowl games? I watched Purdue and Central Michigan until I fell asleep. Purdue ended up winning with a field goal. The Chippewas performed quite a rally to even make a game of it.
