A peek at the life, times and thoughts of John during his two-year stint in Knoxville.

"It's Friday night, and the moon is bright..."
Please tell me somebody else remembers what song those lyrics are from.

I have returned to Knoxville today from Jackson/Henderson Tenn. The Freed-Hardeman Lectureships overall were good. They also allowed me to realize how far I've come in two quarters at school. Many of the lecture topics that I would have *really* wanted to go to a year ago I opted for other choices because I knew about the topic from studies here and thus could go somewhere else.

It actually became a bit disappointing that the lectures on some topics didn't go as deep as I would have liked. Considering they are only 45 minutes or so each and some of the topics are massive to begin with, this should not have surprised me.

I'm glad to be back in Knoxville. Good lectures? Sure. Exhausting? Uh huh.

Tomorrow I will do some work here and then in the afternoon head for West Virginia for a speaking engagement Sunday morning. I think I'm going to drive back Sunday afternoon instead of driving elsewhere in the state to make a second visit. Getting back, getting sleep and being prepared to start a new quarter relatively well-rested is taking priority right now.
