A peek at the life, times and thoughts of John during his two-year stint in Knoxville.
One Wild Day
A lot of stuff has been in the news today.
Allow me to clarify that ridiculously obvious statement...
A lot of stuff that is relevant and interesting to *me* has been in the news today.
1. The CEO of the current owner of the Chicago Cubs has announced that he wants to sell the naming rights to Wrigley Field. I first heard this was a possibility many weeks ago. At first I of course considered it ridiculous, although it is true that the complex hasn't always been named Wrigley Field.
I hope that the name remains "Wrigley Field." Maybe they could do what Citi has done with the Rose Bowl and come up with something like "Wrigley Field presented by Foot Locker" or "Planter's presents: historic Wrigley Field."
If the name does change then I will immediately set out to get to Chicago and watch a Cubs game before it takes affect. It's been a dream of mine to watch the Cubs play at Wrigley Field anyway, and a change to the stadium name would be quite the impetus. Whether the name changes or not I think most die-hard Cubs fans will always think of it as Wrigley Field.
2. Myron Cope, the famous Pittsburgh Steelers announcer and "inventor" of the trademark Terrible Towel died. The Pittsburgh Steelers organization is somewhat like a big family and I'm sure he will be missed and mourned.
Cope was 79.
3. Accomplished conservative thinker William F. Buckley Jr. has also died.
4. One of my favorite quarterbacks, David Carr, was released by the Carolina Panthers.
I would type more, but I am beyond the time I should have spent on this post already. Have a good evening.
