A peek at the life, times and thoughts of John during his two-year stint in Knoxville.
Table Scraps
--Fred Thompson, the man I was supporting for president, dropped out of the race today. To his credit, he probably realized it was too uphill a climb from where he was at and didn't want to waste more money. Can't say I blame him.
--I can often count on Wal-Mart to provide something of amusement if I look long enough. Does anybody here remember when I was killing time in Wal-Mart for a few hours and came up with a whole monologue of jokes based on stuff I saw?
Today I noticed they're not peddling Hybrid Boxers. I can't help but wonder, how many MPGs can boxers get?
--Two more days of finals and then the Second Quarter of the first year will be over. So far finals have gone well, but the next two days will have some challenges. Tomorrow's is supposed to be heavy on memory verse recitation (not my strong suit) and Thursday has two tricky finals. In one I have a great idea of how to study, but this is the same teacher that last quarter I inexplicably bombed (see also 84 percent) the final. Yes, that's right, I even saw myself answering questions wrong and couldn't seem to stop. It was a surreal experience.
In the other Thursday final (the final final for quarter two) we have no idea what to expect. Our teacher keeps us off balance well and has always (until now) given us take-home tests. That obviously won't be the case this time.
--The good news is it already feels like months since I finished my term papers (in reality they were all wrapped up Saturday evening) and that's been a tremendous load to have off my shoulders.
--I went to GameStop for a few minutes this evening to look for some material to help me enjoy my upcoming break. The winner? NCAA March Madness 2003. A few years old? Yes. But at the astounding price of 99 cents I decided not to pass it up. I'd been thinking of adding a college hoops game to my collection and I'm happy with the choice. I'm looking forward to coaching Marshall to a conference title, even if they will still be in the Mid-American Conference on this one. Ah...memories.
